How to do Bank Transfer in a Japanese ATM (JP Bank)

Hey kids! This time let's delve into the process of transferring money from one Japanese bank account to another. This step by step instruction is done through JP (Japan Post) Bank which is widely used by foreigners living in Japan. Sadly you can only go about the process in Japanese because there are no English guide at the moment. Let's check the steps from the beginning shall we?

Step 1: On the main screen, choose the option "ご送金=gosoukin = money transfer" As you can see there's an English guide button but bank transfer doesn't have any English guide (unfortunately)

Step 2: Please press "ゆうちょ口座へのご送金 = yuuchokouza heno gosoukin" which means to a JP bank account.

*For other banks (other than Japan Post) choose "他行口座へのご送金=takoukoza heno gosoukin" which means to other banks.

Step 3: Click on "確認 = kakunin" which means confirm

Step 4: Insert your ATM or passbook

Step 5: Enter your 4-digit pin number.

Step 6: Click on "記号番号=kigoubangou" which means symbol code/ number code.

From here it will ask you for the other party's bank branch code which is the first 5 digits. Then followed by the actual account number which is -digits. After that it will ask for the amount (in Yen) you would like to transfer to that account. After confirming, it will show the bank details of the person you are sending the money to. It will include the name, (written in katakana), bank account number and the amount to be sent.

P.S. Please verify the details if they're correct before clicking on the confirmation button.

(*Additional) If you click the button "振替先照会=furikaesakishoukai" (or previous inquiry) as shown above, you will see the log details of the bank transfers you have done. Once on record, you can click the green button on the right side, if you want to send money the next time around.
